The good stuff

Well needless to say LOTS has happened in the last couple of weeks! As a matter of fact we are pretty much on the last leg of the race! We actually started moving some stuff in last night! We can't stay there until we get the final inspection and the CO, which is hopefully coming soon.

All the inside stuff is done, with the exception of two minor things the plumbers need to take care of. The phone people are coming out Friday, and the DirectTV folks will be out Wed. to get the tv's up and running! We dropped a water sample off at the lab this morning to make sure you won't grow a third arm when drinking our water! Our list of "To do's" is getting bigger and bigger!

We are taking a stab at the Final Inspection for tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed! :)

Anyway....here is the good stuff...the pictures!!!

Finished bonus room

Ignore the dusty floors...counter tops and fireplace look amazing!

The roman waterfall....OR Dana's master bathtub

The new Pella storm door

Where I plan on spending LOTS of time!!! Theater room!

Trying to convince the puppies to use the new doggie door...that's a work in progress!

I'll add more pictures and maybe a video soon! Thanks for checking in!

Aruba!!

1st things first. We just got back from an Amazing vacation in Aruba! Here are a few pic's of the island. It wasn't the greatest timing for a vacation with everything going on at the house, but luckily we only had a few phone calls/emails all week and could concentrate on the important stuff like getting a tan :)

I'll follow up this post with one on the house, but I couldn't resist sharing some pics!
Everyone's favorite breakfast "Zucaritas"

Beautiful sunset cruise

Frameable!

Look at that water!! AMAZING!

We practically had to hold Dana down from chasing him down the beach :)

These guys joined us on our snorkling trip!

Dream Come True

Wow! So, I've been waiting to get some time to write a pretty special blog one that I'm sure many of you wouldn't expect. But the last couple of weeks have just been so amazing and so filling, I guess that's a good word.
Most of you that know me know my roots are pretty grounded out in Moonlight where I was raised so you understood when I didn't care about an hour commute to work each way to be able to build a house out there on family property. I was taught from a very young age about the value of land and how the land I grew up on was obtained and worked and kept in my family and it actually stuck and meant something to me. In fact, the farm that is across from the farm my house is on is where my grandfather and his siblings were raised (9 i think) and the house still stands and my Dad and brother still work the farm. Anyway, so since I was a little girl out there running around on all that land I've been picking my spot of where I wanted my house to be. Now of course the spot has changed plenty of times and of course the house has too - I used to want a log cabin and I always wanted to be way off the road so nobody would every see me. Obviously those things changed over the years but something that never changed was me wanting to build a house on my family's land. There were plenty of times that I didn't know if it would ever really happen...but thank goodness my dream has come true.
Last week I'm on my way to one of the many trips to Lowe's and I was by myself and I just started thinking about everything that we've been going through to get this house up in the air and ready to move in. Sometimes we go so fast and at such a rapid pace we don't even have time to stop and realize what's going on around us...well that day it was like it smacked me in the face that it was really REAL!
Also, those of you who know me know that it's very rare to see me cry...especially tears caused by pain, hurt or sadness...more likely if I have tears they are thankful, blessed tears because of something that just fills me up inside. Well I am walking through the Lowes fighting back the tears just because I know how thankful and blessed I am to be able to have this dream come true.
I am so thankful for the family and friends that surround me daily and have given me all the opportunities throughout my life that have led me to where I am today. I am at the same time so excited I can hardly stand be around myself sometimes...hahaha! It has been an amazing experience that I guess I only dreamed about because I didn't really know if it would ever come true and the true part has finally hit me and there aren't words to describe it. I know some of you who actually check this blog and many of you reading are those people I'm thankful to have in my life and I just thought I needed to share...life's too short not to.

A little more about the house - all the trim is complete - you can see in the above pictures the porch is finished and the shutters are on. The fence is up, the garage is painted, all the lights, ceiling fans etc. are up and it's almost time to move in. But, first we have to take a much needed vacation to Aruba. Then we'll be back to move-in. The painters still have to finish, the plumbers have to put in all the faucets and toilets and the carpet has to be laid - other than that we're almost done - which means it's almost time for the house warming party!

Sorry to bore all of you with my sentimental post today but I felt the need to share and for others to know there's nothing about this whole house journey that I take for granted as I get choked up everyday I ride up that driveway to go check the progress!!! :)

Check back next week for some updated inside pictures!
